Mission
The mission of this Society is:
1. To encourage the study of genealogy;
2. To foster the maintenance of family trees;
3. To create interest in the genealogical records in and around St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana;
4. To locate and make known the locations in our community where genealogical records are available;
5. To preserve, catalogue (and publish when desirable and possible) records of a genealogical nature where such may be of interest to the members, subscribers and students of genealogy;
6. To support genealogical researchers who had ancestors from the St. Tammany Parish area;
7. To provide training in the field of genealogy; and
8. To bring to the attention of the public in general the necessity of preserving records of a genealogical nature for the benefit of posterity.
The STGS shall foster this mission by: holding regular meetings, conducting field trips to regional genealogical facilities, providing genealogical training and workshops, publishing a quarterly newsletter and by maintaining an informational web site.
