FAMILY FOREST
PRODUCTS
by Millisecond Publishing
Company, Inc.
During October 2003, I (Rob
Noles) reviewed some of
Millisecond Publishing's Family Forest Products. The Family Forest
digitally maps and connects recorded knowledge about the family ties that lead
to the ancestors of most, if not all of Americans of European descent and makes
the results available almost instantly on your computer. The Family
Forest products listed immediately below have been reviewed and are highly
recommended. A more complete listing is further down this page.
The Millisecond flagship product is the Family Forest World Record
Edition CD-ROM (retails for $129 + $4.95 S&H). The FFWRE is a huge compilation
of genealogical data. Most of the families listed have a notable person
someplace in the family tree. However, in order to document the ancestors
and descendants of these famous people, details about many every-day people are
also included in the database. The Family Forest database permits you to
review the relationships among the millions of individuals included. For
example it shows President's family connection to Marilyn Monroe and Henry
Ford's relationship to Thomas Edison.
Each record on the CD contains at least one source
citation for the publication where the information was obtained. The data
on this CD have been taken from more than 330 printed resources from throughout
the United States. For every statement of fact (birth, death,
marriage, etc.) the specific source is provided. For
instance the record for Lizzie Borden cites a well-respected genealogy source:
Gary Boyd Roberts' Notable Kin, Volume Two, page 95.
I have been collecting printed sources for
years that include many of the sources used by Family Forest. The Family Forest World Record
Edition CD-ROM or one of the other smaller database CDs form the Family
Forest collection permits you to have access to these sources at a fraction of
the cost.
A review of Family Forest World Record
Edition was done recently by Dick Eastman, a well known writer of
genealogical articles on the Internet. Use this link to see Dick
Eastman's Review
A fairly complete list of the Family Forest products is
listed below.
